Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A.  The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa.  It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations.

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join the small team based on site on a 5:2/ 4:3 FIFO roster arrangement from Perth. A DIDO arrangement from Geraldton will be considered.

This newly created position reports to the HR Superintendent and is responsible for providing timely, business focused and effective HR support and advice to site leaders. To be successful you will have several years of relevant HR experience and a thorough understanding of workplace legislation.

The successful candidate will be confident and engaging with good relationship building skills and comfortable with growth and change. They will be a motivated, dynamic, hands-on  to support all aspects of operational human resources.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Working closely with the Perth based HR team in regards to recruitment and on-boarding processes, remuneration recommendations, and HR workflows.
  • Ensure integrity of HR data and processes
  • Maintain and execute effective case management in collaboration with the HR Superintendent.
  • Coach and support leaders across all people related matters to improve business effectiveness and ensure compliance with company policy and workplace legislation
  • Generate and interpret key HR reports to assist in the development of HR plans and interventions to improve business performance
  • Manage a high-volume workload and balance complex stakeholder relationships within site structures. Coaching business leadership to enhance effectiveness in people-related activities.
  • Participating in multiple cross-functional initiatives, delivery of cyclical process and providing HR input and project leadership.
  • Leading and implement key internal HR projects and initiatives (e.g. continuous improvement and standardisation).
  • Initiate and check relevant documentation as part of day to personnel movements
  • Contributing to a senior divisional (site) leadership team, influencing and guiding that team in order to achieve business outcomes

Key requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Well-developed capability in the investigation and close out of disciplinary incidents and case management
  • Strong understanding of HR systems, policies and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and be flexible with a “can do” attitude
  • Operational experience in mining and resources, or similar (preferred)
  • Full driving license
